Project : Penrith Foyer Development

Contract Value : Approximately £4.75m

Year Completed : 2010/2011

The project consists of part redevelopment and part extension to form the Penrith Foyer housing 35 one and two bedroom apartments for student and social housing residents on the upper floors with the ground floor housing a complete separate Sure Start facility for young children complete with creche, training and office facilities plus library archive storage facility.
The development is being designed to achieve Code level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes for the residential apartments and A BREEAM very good rating for the ground floor facility. In order to achieve these requirements the following initiatives are being incorporated :
Solar thermal hot water system
Combined heat and power system in conjunction with gas fired high efficiency boiler plant.
High levels of insulation
Ventilation with heat recovery systems
