HRH The Duke of Gloucester formally opens the
Hanover Housing Association development at
Patching Lodge Extra Care Scheme in Brighton
An Update
Following the Board level changes and the successful opening of the UK South office in July 2009 we have been delighted not only with the extremely positive response from our existing clients but also from potential new clients in a number of sectors.
We have been able to consolidate our position in BES' traditionally strong sectors of Extra Care & Social Housing by securing new projects in South East England, in addition to ongoing discussions on a number of other new developments.
Despite the challenging economic climate BES' head office in Newton Aycliffe has also secured and executed a number of important projects, ensuring a solid half yearly performance. At the last Board meeting Derek Griffiths reported that BES has received the highest number of enquiries for a number of years
Our attendance to the over 50's Housing event Network 2009, held at the Park Lane Hotel London in September, provided a great opportunity to meet key players in this sector, resulting in a number of new possibilities and contacts.
COMMISSIONS SECURED
Thankfully, BES' clients have been busy and have trusted us with a number of new commissions. These include:
•Condition surveys of secondary schools in preparation of the Stockton BSF Schools programme
•Further Healthcare sector commissions via Durham/Middleborough PCTs
•Community Resource Centre in Kendal
•98 Apartment Extra Care scheme in Derby
•Residential development for People with Learning Difficulties in the London Borough of Barnet (to be designed to BREEAM excellent)
•Infrastructure upgrade for the Medical School at Newcastle University.
TECHNOLOGY
BES Consulting Engineers are heavily involved in Renewable Energy and Sustainability issues. Our Low Carbon Consultants continue to look for innovative methods and Low/Zero Carbon solutions, to meet and exceed our client's requirements and obligations on numerous projects.
We are assisting a number of Housing Associations, Architects and Developers by providing support at various levels from planning stage to final commissioning, particularly the impact of the Government's planned Feed-in-tariffs scheme which is due to be introduced in 2010.
